First time out for both kids. Matt was excited about it, but Jake wasn't looking forward to it at all.
They had a very patient instructor.
On their way to the bunny hill.
Staying upright was a big challenge. Jake couldn't get over to the hill without help, and Matt did fall several times and had a tough time figuring out how to get back up.
Finally at the bunny hill, this is their first attempt down. All looked good at first, but...
...feet and arms started flailing and they all came crashing down. I decided not to get a shot of that.
Matt kept trying, but the hardest part for him was getting up without help when he fell.
Jake got the hang of it faster than Matt did, but Jake was also ready to leave after 10 minutes.
The back of the lodge.
After a half hour I went back inside and sat by the fire. Their lesson was two hours long. I never thought Jake would speak to me again.
They felt very proud of themselves when it was over. Matt decided to go back to the bunny hill by himself for an hour, while Jake went back to the room with Grammie to watch tv.
Matt was a sweaty mess and loved every minute.
He can't wait to go back!
A quick video from very far away of Matt on his own down the bunny (he came a long way in that two hours):
