Matt: Matt had a lot of fun at our breakfast party on Monday morning (see Jen). He was very happy to spend Tuesday with Dad and he got to play in the snow for the first time this season. He did, however, come back inside with a runny nose that hasn't stopped yet. He got to spend Wednesday with Grammie since Jake had to visit the doctors, and had a lot of fun cutting out pictures in magazines and making a book. He had to miss his gym class on Thursday because of his cold and Jake’s bug, but, God willing, we will be able to go back next week. Today he decided to wear underwear and has been successfully going on the potty all day, even without being reminded to. He’s still not too keen on doing #2 in the pot, but our plan is to fill him full of apple juice this weekend so he can’t hold it if he tries.
Jake: Poor Jake. He started out the week by being dropped on his bum (see Jen) and is ending the week with Matt's cold. He also has thrush and doesn't feel like eating, and what he does eat tends to come up since his belly's full of gunk. The good news is that Jake has been sleeping through the night for almost two weeks now and seems to enjoy his crib much more than Matt did at 6 weeks old. But Jake's probably figured out that the time spent in his crib is really the only peace and quiet he'll get in his house. He has to get it when he can.
Chris: Chris spent Sunday and Monday in Chicago giving a presentation. He surprised us by coming home late on Monday (instead of Tuesday afternoon) and stayed home on Tuesday to recover. He celebrated his birthday this week by going to Smokey Bones for dinner and buying a snow blower, although the next day he said it wasn’t really for his birthday since we needed it anyway. (Chris' note: If women can't get vacuums for their birthday, men can't get snowblowers for theirs ... that's a rule.) He bought some headphones and a bluetooth headset instead. He also surprised me with a new camera. Apparently there’s snow and money falling from the sky out here.
Jen: Since Chris was away I decided to invite the ladies on my MOPS steering committee over for breakfast on Monday. It was a lot of fun and surprisingly not chaotic considering there were seven children under 3 years old running around. On Tuesday we were happy to have Chris here, and he was going to watch Jake while Matt and I went to my Bible study. However, when Jake and I went in to help Matt out of bed, I accidentally dropped Jake on his bum when Matt jumped on me. He was fine (the x-rays said so), but obviously it was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to both of us. (Interestingly, the techs at the x-ray place each had stories to tell about how they dropped their own children and our doctor told me to “join the club”. I feel better now.) Jake woke up with a cold and a stomach bug on Thursday which made for more fun. In non-kid related news, I did get a spiffy new camera this week. Chris says it’s my Valentines present. It’s a Sony Alpha and it’s awesome. Of course you can expect some really cool pictures on the blog now because I have no excuses. As Chris said, “If you don’t like the pictures you take with this, it’s not the camera.”
